The Hellenic Coast Guard reported Monday that the body of a Jane Doe, approximately 35-40 years old, was discovered in the sea near the Agios Kosmas marina, an area part of the Athenian Riviera.

Lifeguards arrived at the scene, retrieved the woman, and transported her to the nearby marina in Glyfada, from where she was taken to the nearest hospital. Her death was confirmed soon after.

The coast guard conducted a preliminary investigation and ordered an autopsy to be carried out by the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Two more bodies were discovered in the sea on Monday, one in Pyrgos, a city in the northwestern Peloponnese, and another on Thasos, an island in the north Aegean.
