Barrage of Abuse Reports against Arrested Parliamentary Officer

The wife's lawyer reported that besides the repeated sexual abuse, the man had on occasion threated his family's life, beat them with batons, tortured them with piercings, handcuffed them and even burned cigarette buts on their backs.

New shocking information has come to light regarding the police officer who was arrested on Friday on sexual abuse cases against both his wife and his children.

The lawyer of the officer’s wife, who is also on the force, reported that besides the repeated sexual abuse, the man had on occasion threated his family’s life, beat them with batons, tortured them with piercings, handcuffed them and even burned cigarette buts on their backs.

He also noted that the accused had also forced his wife to participate in lewd acts against their children, all under 14 years old, while he watched and did the same with his young son against his siblings.

“He had incited terror and fear in everyone, making them feel that he was invulnerable, because he had pull with many people,” he said.

His wife of six years had previously filed domestic abuse cases against him, the first one in February. However, she withdrew her first complaint for fear of her life. The second complaint came on November 18. The officer was subsequently arrested and removed from his parliamentary security duties the following day.

Four days after the second complaint, the wife reported to the Police’s special Sub-Directorate for the Protection of Minors that her husband had been sexually abusing their children since 2016.

On November 20, a court reportedly sentenced him to a one-year suspended imprisonment for domestic violence. After the verdict, he threatened suicide and was subsequently transferred to a military psychiatric hospital.

According his wife, who spoke on MEGA, the man documented his abuse, taking videos and photos of his family, who he’d beat with a baton if they refused to what he said.

“I constantly received threats to my life and my children’s, that he would kill us. He was always violent, both towards me and the children,” his wife told MEGA.

He had also allegedly cut off all contact between his wife and her family and friends, while she herself had been away from work recently, as she had become pregnant with their six child.

Authorities are also investigating a potential suicide or even murder attempt of the eldest son, who fell from a balcony in 2020, which at the time had been filed off as an accident.

Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrisochoidis called the situation a terrifying, horrific case. “From the moment the complaints were filed, the authorities have done everything that needed to be done,” he said.
