Athens to Lift Traffic Ring Restrictions for Summer Season

The traffic ring restrictions in central Athens, which regulates the circulation of odd and even numbered vehicles, will be lifted for the summer starting next Friday.

According to the joint ministerial decision, the restriction will end on July 19 at 3 p.m., allowing all vehicles unrestricted access to the city center until mid-October.

In effect from mid-autumn to mid-summer, the traffic ring restrictions applies from Monday to Thursday between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm, and on Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

During these times, private passenger cars and private trucks with a maximum allowable loaded vehicle mass of up to 2,200 kilograms are allowed to circulate on alternate days based on the last digit of their license plate number: even dates for vehicles ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8, and odd dates for vehicles ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

The ring in Athens is delineated by the following avenues and streets: Alexandras Avenue – Zacharof – Mesogeion Avenue – Fidiou – Michalakopoulou – Spyrou Merkouri – Vriaxidos – Ymittou – Ilias Iliou – Andreas Frantzis – Syngrou Avenue – Chamosternas – Piraeus – Iera Odos – Konstantinoupoleos Avenue – Achilleos – Karaiskaki Square – Karolou – Marnis – 28th October (Patission) – Alexandras Avenue.
