A 39-year-old man, reportedly a Turkish national, was shot dead in a central Athens neighborhood, while a passerby was injured during a shooting on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Lesvou and Patision streets in the neighborhood of Kypseli, in downtown Athens.
According to police reports, the shooting took place shortly after 8 p.m., with sources suggesting the victim was parking his car when a vehicle with two individuals approached and opened fire, fatally wounding him.
Police said a passerby was lightly injured and reportedly left in shock at the scene.
Police officers recovered nine shell casings at the scene, and a search to locate and apprehend the perpetrators is ongoing.
The Homicide and Property Crime Unit of the Organized Crime Division is handling the preliminary investigation of the case.
