Athens Public Transport Enters a New Era with Contactless Payments

This move enhances the efficiency of Athens Public Transport, providing a hassle-free experience for both locals and tourists

Athens takes a leap into modernized public transportation as OASA partners with HST A.E. member of the Terna Energy Group for the technological upgrade of the Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS).

This upgrade enables the use of bank cards and mobile devices for seamless travel across metro, tram, buses, and trolleys. The AFCS also supports Mobility as a Service (MaaS), enabling integration with mobility partner applications such as taxis, electric bike rentals, airlines, and ferry companies.

Notably, commuters, in addition to ATH.ENA Ticket or ATH.ENA Card, can now use their bank cards via a mobile app, eliminating the need for ticket purchases and simplifying the travel selection process.

This move enhances the efficiency of Athens Public Transport, providing a hassle-free experience for both locals and tourists.
