Athens is ready to celebrate Pride month with dozens of events, concerts, workshops and screenings this week.
The events culminate with the annual Pride Parade on Saturday (June 15), which starts from Syntagma Square at 7pm.
In its 19th year, Athens Pride celebrates diversity under the slogan “One Law is Not Enough” and will hold an open discussion on Greece’s decision earlier this year to legalize same-sex marriage.
The lineup this year includes popular acts such as Tamta, Eleonora Zouganeli, Anastasia, and James Indigo as well as DJ sets, body painting sessions and workshops. Other events in the runup to the parade include an Open Air party on Pittaki St on Wednesday at 6pm, photo exhibits and parties around town.
Meanwhile, for the first time in Greece, Thessaloniki will be hosting EuroPride 2024 on June 21-29. For eight days, the city will offer dozens of LGBTQ+ art and theater performances, walking tours, screenings, awareness-raising events, a human rights conference, a pride fair, and the traditional pride parade on June 29. Thessaloniki, Greece’s second largest city, is expecting more than 40,000 visitors to attend EuroPride 2024.
