Man Recovered Dead from Athens Metro Station Tracks

According to an announcement, the individual had committed suicide

A man who fell onto the Athens Metro tracks earlier today, Wednesday, at the Ethniki Amyna station was recovered dead.

According to a statement released by the Hellenic Fire Services, “The body of a man was recovered from a Metro train near the Ethniki Amyna metro station and was taken by an EKAB ambulance.” Twelve firefighters with four vehicles took part in the recovery operation.

In a statement by STASY, “To accommodate passengers until full service on Metro Line 3 is restored, an emergency bus route, ‘Special Route,’ has been launched, running between Katechaki and Halandri stations, with stops at the Metro stations along this section.”

According to the same announcement, the individual had committed suicide.

Metro services are expected to be restored gradually.
