The Athens Metro Operation Workers‘ Union (SELMA) has declared a work stoppage in the metro on Friday, December 13, from 9:00 PM until the end of traffic.

Metro workers wrote in a statement they are dealing with “very serious contractual and financial issues that are lingering and have not been resolved” and demand an immediate solution.

Specifically, they stated by the Athens Metro Union: “The SELMA workers’ union, due to very serious contractual and financial pending issues that have been lingering and have not been resolved by the competent bodies, as they themselves have committed in writing, is proceeding with a warning work stoppage on Friday 13/12/2024 from 21:00 until the end of traffic. We ask that immediate solutions be found and that the workers be secured in order to provide our services without hindrance and without second thoughts. The patience of the workers has exceeded every limit and every permissible tolerance.”
