Athens Metro: Operation of Line To and From Airport Restored

The operation of the Athens metro line to and from Athens' international airport was temporarily suspended Friday morning.

Service on the Athens metro line that travels to and from Athens’ international airport Eleftherios Venizelos has been restored, says In.gr.

On Friday morning the company manging the metro services in Athens, called STASY, informed the public that metro services to and from the airport were temporarily suspended.

This disruption was due to a technical malfunction involving a stationary train on the platform at Dukissis Plakentias Station, which caused a smoke alarm to activate.

Consequently, operations on the line to the airport, called Line 3, were limited to the section between Chalandri and Municipal Theatre.

All lines of the Athens metro are now operating regularly, although with reduced frequency during the summer months.
