The Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family, in collaboration with the Organization for Benefits and Social Solidarity (OPEKA), has announced that the electronic platform for submitting Child Benefit applications, A21, will re-open at 08:00 on Monday, March 31, 2025. The platform will remain open until April 30, 2025, at 18:00.
Families eligible for Child Benefit can submit their applications via the IDIKA platform (www.idika.gr) or through the OPEKA website (www.opeka.gr), using their personal Taxisnet access codes. The benefit amount will be determined based on the dependent children declared in the application for 2025 and the family income for the 2023 tax year. For families who have already submitted their 2024 tax returns, the income from this year will be used for subsequent calculations.
Important Conditions for Eligibility
To qualify for the benefit, applicants must ensure that their dependent children are attending compulsory education, from pre-kindergarten to high school. The adequacy of the children’s attendance will also be verified.
When completing the A21 application, the following information about each child must be entered:
- The name of the school unit
- The class of study
- The child’s registration number
How the Child Benefit is Calculated
The amount of the Child Benefit is calculated based on the number of dependent children and the family’s income. The benefit is provided on a monthly basis, with different amounts based on income levels:
- First and second child: 70, 42, or 28 euros per month, depending on the family’s income bracket.
- Third child and beyond: 140, 84, or 56 euros per month.
The benefit is available to over 900,000 families, benefiting more than 1.5 million children, with an estimated annual expenditure of 1.05 billion euros. Payments are made in six bimonthly installments, based on the latest cleared tax return data.
