Beginning this year, the Pan-hellenic School Animal Welfare Day is being introduced, to be commemorated annually on April 4 within school classrooms across Greece.

According to the Ministry of Education’s directive, elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as Greek schools abroad, will partake in a variety of activities. These include educational initiatives, information sessions, visits to animal shelters and wildlife sanctuaries, seminars on first aid and care for stray animals, educational programs, and cultural events like theatrical performances and art exhibitions.

The aim is to inform and sensitize students about various forms of life and to cultivate sensitivity towards every living being.

As per the circular, collaboration with specialists like veterinarians, psychologists, social workers, educators, and professionals or volunteers in animal care facilities is crucial. This ensures the inclusion of speeches, presentations, and showcases of works and activities in the day’s events.
