American Woman, 18, Arrested in Thessaloniki on Rape Allegations

A 19-year-old Greek man told police she tried to rape him

Greek police arrested a young American woman in Thessaloniki, a city in northern Greece, in the regional unit of Macedonia after a young Greek man filed a complaint alleging she had attempted to rape him.

As local news site Thesfestival reports, the purported victim, 19, informed the officers at the Pylea Police station in the homonymous municipality of Pylea-Chortiatis last night that the 18-year-old U.S. national tried to sexually abuse him.

In his statement to the police officers, the young man claimed that his purported attacker tried to take advantage of the fact that he was intoxicated and made sexual advances against him without him providing his consent.

According to the alleged victim’s complaint, the incident took place at an abandoned house in the suburb of Panorama. Following the complaint, police located the 18-year-old American woman in Thessaloniki and took her into custody.
