Alter Ego Media, the leading media group in Greece, has acquired the commercial trademarks of emblematic “Eleftherotypia”, “Kyriakatiki Eleftherotypia”, and the website “enet.gr”.
The company issued a relevant announcement stating:
“Alter Ego Media announces that it has acquired through a public auction held today, March 4, 2024, at the Athens Court of First Instance, the commercial trademarks ‘ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΟΤΥΠΙΑ’, ‘ΚΥΡΙΑΚΑΤΙΚΗ ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΟΤΥΠΙΑ’, and ‘WWW.ENET.GR’ of the former company ‘H.K. TEGOPOULOS PUBLISHING S.A’.”
First published in 1975, Eleftherotypia was the flagship of independent journalism in Greece but faced serious financial struggles eventually resulting in its bankruptcy. The auction of its trademarks and assets signals a potential revival or transformation under the new ownership of Alter Ego Media S.A.
The acquisition is poised to infuse new energy into the Eleftherotypia brand, potentially re-imagining its role in the Greek media landscape amidst evolving digital media challenges.

The company has a strong digital presence with “in.gr” (Greece’s most famous and largest portal) and various other brands like OT, Vita, Mommy, Vima Magazino, Diakopes, and Grace. Since 2021 the company has acquired the music radio station “My Radio”.
