5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Halkidiki

According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the earthquake’s epicenter was located in the sea area 11 kilometers south of Nea Moudania, in Halkidiki.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale occurred at 7:03 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, in the region of Halkidiki, in Northern Greece.

According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the earthquake’s epicenter was located in the sea area 11 kilometers south of Nea Moudania, in Halkidiki.

A few minutes later, a second tremor measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale followed at 7:07 pm centered 10 kilometers south of the area. Both tremors had a focal depth of 5 kilometers.

No casualties or material damages have been reported by authorities as a result of the seismic activity.

According to experts, the quakes do not pose cause for concern, as the region has no history of significant seismic activity.

In a social media post, seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos emphasized that “it is too early to say whether this was the main earthquake. We will know more tomorrow with additional data.”
