A moderate earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale was recorded at 12:38 a.m. (10.38 GMT) on Sunday, southeast of the large island of Crete, in the east-central Mediterranean.
According to a revised reading by the Geodynamic Institute of the Athens Observatory, the tremor was measured at 68 kilometers southeast of the Goudoura site of Lasithi prefecture, and in a sea region off southeastern Crete.
The quake was pinpointed at a dept of 4.9 kilometers.
The same region has previously yielded similar earthquakes in the past, although seismologists were reassuring on Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, a light earthquake measureing 3.8 on the Richter scale was recorded the previous evening some eight kilometers west of the Peloponnese town of Argos.
