Vasilis Kalogirou has been missing since December 30, 2024.

The 39-year-old reportedly disappeared after leaving his parents’ home in Larissa for a walk. According to a revelation on Mega, he is the son of the prosecutor handling the Tempi case.

Kalogirou has not been seen since he left the house at 5:00 p.m. on the 30th, despite extensive search efforts by authorities and family members.

A Silver Alert was issued two days ago regarding the disappearance stating that: “he disappeared from his parents’ house, which he had visited for the holidays, in Larissa, on the afternoon of 12/30/2024, when he left for his daily walk and did not return. Since then, he has not been seen. He has brown hair with a bald spot on top, green eyes, is 1.79m tall and is of normal weight. On the day he disappeared, he was wearing a dark blue parka-type jacket, a dark-colored blouse, blue jeans, black sneakers and navy-colored myopia glasses. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the National SOS Line 1065.”

Authorities have launched a search operation, focusing on the Pinios River and surrounding areas.  According to To Vima, efforts have included the use of two drones for aerial surveillance, a lifeboat manned by Special Disaster Response Unit rescue personnel, and a specially trained search dog. Despite these efforts, no leads have emerged. Security camera footage reportedly confirmed that Kalogirou was last seen walking toward the Pinios River.

Kalogirou’s uncle, former Supreme Court vice president and former Niki party MP Giorgos Apostolakis, made a plea on social media for information, asking for prayers and support.

Kalogirou is the son of Sofia Apostolaki, a senior prosecutor in Larissa who has handled high-profile cases, including the ongoing Tempi case, and is approaching retirement. According to police statements his professional background includes work as a substitute special education psychologist in Kastoria during the 2024-2025 school year.
