A light earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale was recorded off the western coast Corfu on Friday morning.
According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the tremor originated in an underwater area of the Ionian Sea, near the western coast of the island and occurred at 06:29 (04.29 GMT)
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 34 kilometers south-southwest of the Othoni isle, with a focal depth of 6.8 kilometers.
So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries from the earthquake, with scientists examining the seismic activity in the area.
The region of the Ionian Sea, in western Greece, is characterized by high seismic activity.
