An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale rocked the residents of Kefalonia on Friday afternoon.
According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the tremor was recorded at 3.9 on the Richter scale and occurred at approximately 13:48.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 5 kilometers south-southwest of Lixouri, with a focal depth of 15.2 kilometers.
So far, there have been no reports about damage or injuries from the earthquake, with scientists examining the seismic activity in the area.
The region of the Ionian Sea, in western Greece, is characterized by very high seismicity. The islands of Kefalonia, Ithaki, Lefkada, and Zakynthos frequently experience strong tremors.
