18-Year-Old Confesses to Killing His 16-Year-Old Brother with Scissors

At the time of the violent incident, their mother, grandmother, and the 18-year-old's girlfriend were present in the house.

The community of Nea Smyrni remains in shock after the distressing murder of a 16-year-old student. Recent revelations have pointed to the arrest of an 18-year-old sibling, accused of perpetrating the fatal stabbing following a dispute over clothing.

At the time of the violent incident, their mother, grandmother, and the 18-year-old’s girlfriend were present in the house. All of them were taken to the police station for questioning when the altercation occurred, reportedly sparked by a trivial reason.

Essentially, the altercation between the two brothers escalated over some clothes. When their mother intervened to separate them, the 18-year-old grabbed a pair of scissors and thrust them into his brother’s chest.

It all began shortly after 9:00 PM when the Emergency Response Unit received a call reporting voices coming from an apartment in a residential building in Nea Smyrni. Police patrols and an ambulance from the National Emergency Center (EKAB) arrived at the scene.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 16-year-old had sustained severe injuries to the chest, neck, and arms from a sharp object. The young boy was immediately rushed to Laiko Hospital, where his death was confirmed.

The authorities apprehended the individuals present in the house: the mother, the 18-year-old brother, the grandmother, and a girl who reportedly had a relationship with the 18-year-old brother of the victim.

All of them were released a few hours later, except for the 18-year-old brother of the deceased. The public prosecutor is expected to order an autopsy as soon as the police complete the preliminary investigation.
