Ever since failing to impose martial law on December 3, South Korea’s impeached president Yoon has been evading arrest. A failed arrest attempt was carried out last Friday, but ended in a standoff at his presidential residence.
According to Reuters, hundreds of Yoon 's supporters gathered outside the presidential compound in the early hours, pledging to prevent his arrest.

Yoon is facing a second impeachment vote in parliament on Saturday, following the collapse of his initial martial law order on December 3, which sparked accusations of insurrection and led to a criminal investigation into the embattled president.
Public sentiment remains deeply critical of Yoon, whose approval ratings have languished at around 20% for months. Protests have intensified, with the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions calling for a nationwide strike until Yoon resigns.
