"Greece, as a robust member of the European Union and belonging to the broader Eastern Mediterranean region, can engage with the involved parties. It is one of the few countries with this capability precisely because it has built diplomatic capital through the foreign policy principles it exercises," he noted
In an interview with Al Arabiya news channel Gerapetritis said that both humanitarian aid as well the possibility of the conflict escalating is of great concern

The Greek side briefed the US Secretary of State on Athens’ positions regarding the Mideast and expressing Athens' concern over a regional spillover of the crisis.
The British side requested the meeting a day after the British Prime Minister abruptly cancelled a scheduled meeting with visiting Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
