In January, services recorded the highest annual inflation rate in the eurozone at 3.9%, slightly down from 4.0% in December, according to Eurostat's latest data.

Among the EU's 27 member states, 15 countries reported scores at or above the bloc's average.

According to recent data from ELSTAT (Hellenic Statistical Authority), inflation in Greece rate reached 3.5% in December 2023, up from 3% in November.

Despite this decrease, Greece’s November inflation rate remained above the EU average and ranked as the tenth highest among EU countries.

Among young people aged 15-24, unemployment fell notably to 16.3% from 23.1% in Sept. 2023. For those aged 25-74, the rate declined to 9% from 10%.

In Europe’s common monetary bloc, the Eurozone, the consumer price index settled at 2% from 1.7% the previous month

According to Eurostat, Greece posted the highest annual change in prices for the month of September with 1.7%, followed by Portugal and Italy with 1.2%.

The figures revealed that Greeks were in the top 3 of EU member states, as they tend to “spread their wings” at an average age of 30.6, while Croatians and Slovakians were the latest leavers from home, at 31.8 and 31, respectively.

The annual inflation rate for the European Union was 2.4% in August 2024, down from 2.8% in July, while a year earlier, it stood at 5.9%.
