A new strain of Covid, called XEC, is starting to spread through Europe, just as the start of the new school year kicked off.
The strain has already caused the highest number of cases in the U.S. in over two years and has global health authorities on high alert along with their concerns about the spread of avian bird flu and mosquito born diseases.
An report at MEGA notes that XEC was first detected in Germany and has now been documented in the Netherlands and other parts of Europe.

XEC: What Greek Health Authorities Say
The President of the Association of Hospital Doctors (EINAP), Matina Pagoni told MEGA that while XEC is spreading through Europe, it hasn’t made it to Greece yet.
FLiRT is being replaced by XEC and “The Germans are alarmed; this subvariant started there in May,” explained Pagoni.
Greece “still has the FLiRT variant which causes throat issues and fever” added Pagoni, but as of now she isn’t alarmed because the existing cases are mild and well managed by antiviral medications.
