Covid-19 cases continued to rise over the past week in Greece, with more hospitalizations and deaths than the average weekly number over the past four weeks, said a report at AMNA.
Urban wastewater samples taken in 10 areas reveal an increase in SARS-CoV-2 in six areas.
On the positive side, flu-like illnesses and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) remain low and no cases of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) have been detected.

The number of new hospitalizations was 788, showing an increasing trend, as the average weekly number of new hospitalizations over the previous four weeks was 551.
Comparing these figures to 2023, the number of hospitalizations during the corresponding week of 2023 was less than half at 306.
Meanwhile the number of new intubations was six, which is slightly lower than the average weekly number of new intubations over the previous four weeks, which came in at eight.
The number of intubations during the corresponding week of 2023 was seven.
Unfortunately the number of deaths due to COVID-19 is climbing from the average weekly number of deaths over the previous four weeks of 23, up to 35 this past week.
This figure is also higher than the number of deaths during the corresponding week of 2023, which was 17.
