Yemen Missile Strikes Central Israel, No Casualties, Says Military

In July of this year, Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels launched a long-range drone attack on Tel Aviv, killing one person and injuring three others.

The Israeli military announced that a ground-to-ground missile was launched from Yemen toward central Israel today, stating that the missile landed in an uninhabited area without causing any casualties.

Shortly before the missile launch, sirens blared across the Israeli capital, Tel Aviv and central parts of the country, warning of an imminent air raid, prompting residents to seek shelter in bunkers.

Military Statement Following the Launch

“Following the sirens that sounded earlier in central Israel, a ground-to-ground missile was detected entering the region from the east and fell in an open area. No injuries have been reported,” the military said.

Additionally, loud explosions were heard in the area, which the Israeli military attributed to the successful activation of missile interception systems.

The Houthi Attack and Israel’s Response

In July of this year, Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels launched a long-range drone attack on Tel Aviv, Israel, killing one person and injuring three others.

In retaliation, Israel conducted a large-scale airstrike targeting Houthi military installations near the port of Hodeidah, Yemen, resulting in the deaths of at least three people and injuring 87 others.

EU ‘Aspides’ Mission Protects Red Sea Shipping Lanes from Houthi Rebel Threats

It should be noted that the EU operation to protect shipping lanes and commercial vessels from Houthi rebel attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden called “Aspides,” (Greek for shields), was launched earlier this year. Since then its naval warships have engaged in many incidents of action during its mission to protect vessels that were under attack by the north Yemen-based Houthis.
