Former President Donald Trump declared on Sunday his determination to address the upcoming Republican National Convention in Wisconsin, undeterred by an assassination attempt that took place on Saturday, July 13. The attack, occurring during a political rally, left Trump injured by gunfire and resulted in the death of an attendee.
Highlighting the need for unity and resilience, Trump stated, “At this moment, it is more important than ever to remain united and to show our true character as Americans, staying strong and determined.”
He posted these remarks on Truth Social, urging Americans to “remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness.” Trump expressed his condolences to the victims and their families affected by the Pennsylvania rally shooting and thanked law enforcement for their prompt action. He reaffirmed his commitment to speak at the convention.
The Republican National Convention is scheduled to take place from July 15 to 18 at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum, home to the Milwaukee Bucks. Wisconsin, a critical swing state, could play a decisive role in the upcoming presidential election.
Previously part of the Democrats’ “blue wall,” Wisconsin narrowly swung to Trump in 2016, contributing to his unexpected victory. Biden reclaimed the state in 2020, and both parties are now intensively campaigning for its support.
