President-elect Donald Trump announced Saturday that former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, both of which were part of his first administration will not be joining him in the White House when he takes office in 2025.
Haley, a former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under Trump, endorsed him in the presidential race despite having previously criticized him during the party primaries. She reposted the president-elect’s announcement with her own message on X.
I was proud to work with President Trump defending America at the United Nations. I wish him, and all who serve, great success in moving us forward to a stronger, safer America over the next four years. pic.twitter.com/6PhWN6xn1B

According to Reuters, Pompeo, who also served as director of the CIA during Trump’s administration, has been mentioned in some media as a possible pick for defense secretary and was previously considered a potential presidential candidate before announcing in April 2023 that he would not run.
Trump, who known for making key personnel announcements via social media during his first term, separately shared that the 2025 presidential inauguration will be co-chaired by real estate investor and campaign donor Steve Witkoff and former Senator Kelly Loeffler.
As he prepares for his Jan. 20 inauguration, Trump is meeting with candidates for various positions within his administration. On Friday, Reuters reported that he met with well-known investor Scott Bessent, who is under consideration for the role of U.S. Treasury Secretary.
