A Turkish Ministry of Defense spokesperson on Thursday emphasized the importance of a positive dialogue between Athens and Ankara while affirming what he called the latter’s commitment to defending its national interests.
According to a report by Greek state broadcaster ERT, which cited sources within the Turkish ministry, there is a growing emphasis on fostering positive relations with Greece after nearly four years of saber-rattling and bellicose rhetoric on the part of the previous Erdogan government.
Amid this recent “pivot” in favor of positive dialogue instead of threats, Turkish officials now cite the importance of maintaining a constructive and solution-oriented approach. Consequently, the next session is slated for late April in Athens, marking official Turkey’s newly found commitment to engaging in diplomatic dialogue.
Furthermore, the same diplomatic sources confirmed an upcoming Greek-Turkish meeting in Athens to discuss confidence-building measures, scheduled for April 22.
