Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved a list of countries that “implement policies that impose destructive neoliberal ideological attitudes that contradict traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.”
It includes 47 countries and territories, including, among others, the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, as well as all EU countries except for Hungary and Slovakia and all NATO members bar Turkey.
Apart from the newly circulated list, the Russian Government has a similar, older publication, approved in 2022, which includes 46 “unfriendly” states and territories to be used for diplomatic and economic countermeasures.
According to the Russian state news agency TASS, the Russian government’s release of the list follows a decree by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This presidential decree stipulates that Moscow will provide humanitarian assistance and facilitate the relocation and settlement of citizens from these countries who “share traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.”
