Rallies have been scheduled today at noontime in front of the entrance of the Acropolis in Athens and in the Kamara region of Thessaloniki to protest the Greek government’s plans to allow private universities to operate in Greece.
The rallies are expected to be attended by a broad audience including students, educators and administrators who are upset about the bill that is planned to go to Greek Parliament this month.
They are requesting that the bill is withdrawn, as they consider it to be a “Trojan Horse” that will ultimately damage the free education system of the country and lead to an educational environment where decisions are driven by profitability.
Additional rallies have also been announced in the cities of Alexandroupoli, Komotini, Xanthi, Kavala, Florina, Kozani, Ioannina, Volos, Trikala, Patra, Kalamata, Heraklio, Rethymno, Chania and Rhodes.
