A lead of 15.5 percentage point is the gap separating ruling New Democracy (ND) party from second-place SYRIZA, according to the latest Pulse poll results, which were presented on Friday, 10 days before the European Parliament election on June 9.
Socialist PASOK remained in third place, following by the rightist-populist Elliniki Lysi (Greek Solution) and the Communist Party (KKE).
The Pulse poll, whose results were presented and scrutinized on the prime-time newscast of Skai TV, shows up to nine parties pooling more than 3% in the election, the threshold that must be exceeded to elect a MEP to Brussels.
Of the 21 Greek MEP seats, ND is forecast to win seven; leftist SYRIZA four; PASOK three; KKE and Elliniki Lysi two, following by one each for three lesser parties. The New Left party is seen at hovering at 3%.
Incumbent Kyriakos Mitsotakis is judged as the most capable for prime minister, even though the coming election is for the European Parliament. It’s notable that the response “no one” comes in second, before SYRIZA president makes it to third place.
An extrapolation of the results, meaning, among others, forecasts for distributing the number of respondents who declared themselves undecided, given conservative ND 32% of the vote; 16.5% for SYRIZA; PASOK with 13%; Elliniki Lysi 8.5%; KKE 7.5%; Niki 3.5%; Plefsi Eleftherias 3.5%; Mera25 3.5% and New Left 3%
