Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis welcomed a group of US Senators, all Republicans, at his summer residence in the Cretan city of Chania on Saturday for a working breakfast.

The Greek PM was accompanied by Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, while the American dignataries included Senators Jerry Moran, Susan Collins, John Boozman, John Cornyn, John Hoeven, who are members of the US Senate Committees on Appropriations, Intelligence and Energy, and the U.S. Ambassador to Athens, George Tsunis.

Topics discussed included the excellent level of bilateral relations, as well as cooperation between the two countries on defense, along with Greece’s role as a pillar of stability and security in the broader region.

Mitsotakis also emphasized Greece’s initiatives and its role in the development of the so-called “vertical corridor” and Europe’s energy security.
