Greek Prime Minister heads to London on Monday for a series of meetings, including with the United Kingdom’s PM Keir Starmer, who says he is ‘open to a deal’ on the Parthenon Marbles, according to the Financial Times (FT).
The ‘deal’ mentioned by Starmer would be in the form of a ‘loan’ agreement between Greece and the British Museum. That being said, Starmer has no intention on overturning 1963 legislation that would prevent the British Museum from permanently returning the marbles, says FT.
The news comes just over one year since PM Mitsotakis’ visit to London last year and collapse of talks over a deal with then UK PM Rishi Sunak.
