PM Attends Foundation Ceremony for New Boehringer Ingelheim Unit

Mitsotakis: 'We have many scientists that excel abroad and one of this government’s major wagers is to create conditions for them to return to Greece'

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Thursday attending a foundation stone ceremony for the construction of a new wing at pharmaceutical multinational Boehringer Ingelheim’s facility in the Koropi district, east of Athens.

“We have many scientists that excel abroad and one of this government’s major wagers is to create conditions for them to return to Greece; to have good jobs in companies which meet their terms and will satisfy their expectations,” Mitsotakis said.

He also cited his government’s policies in the healthcare sector, saying it was a priority in its second term. The Greek PM said its imperative that state funds spent on health aren’t wasted through bureaucracy and unrestrained medical prescriptions.

“On the contrary, along with economizing funds from streamlining, we have the duty to funnel them to treatments, care, new innovative medicines which, of course, are more expensive but could also be more effective,” he said.

In concluding, he said that the pharmaceutical sector will play its own major role in national efforts to attract more investments and lead to new and better paying jobs.
