Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis had phone contact with Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky a short while ago on Monday.

The two men discussed the latest developments on the ground in the theater of war ahead of the upcoming extraordinary meeting of the European Council in Brussels.

During the contact, the Ukrainian President conveyed his appreciation to the Greek PM for the steadfast support the country had displayed from the outset of negotiations for Ukraine’s EU accession last December.

On his part, Mitsotakis underlined that Greece would continue to support Ukraine bilaterally, as well as within the framework of NATO and the EU.

The EU will convene a special Council in Brussels on February 1st, where the leaders will discuss the mid-term revision of the bloc’s long-term budget for 2021-2027 and support to Ukraine.
