Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis underlined the importance of what he described as the strategic relationship between Greece and the United States, in his first contact with US President-elect Donald Trump on Monday afternoon (Athens time) after the latter won a convincing return to the White House last Tuesday.

Mitsotakis extended the customary congratulations to the new president-elect, who will be the 47th president of the United States of America.

According to reports from the Greek capital, Mitsotakis underlined the significance of a strategic Greece-US relationship for the stability and security of the wider region, while he emphasized that he looks forward to close cooperation with the new US administration over bilateral issues, regional issues and international issues.

Moreover, the Greek leader extended an invitation to Donald Trump to officially visit Greece.
