Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis dispels rumors he is considering a European office in a live TV interview.
He said that while he is aware of the rumors that are circulating, he is not sure of the source. “Perhaps some people, who cannot deal with me politically, are thinking that I could exit by being ‘promoted’ upwards,” he explained.
In response to the notion, he repeated what he said at the Thessaloniki International Fair held in the autumn of 2023 and said, “the Greek people trusted me to govern, to govern the country for the next four years. There is no greater honor for me than to be the Prime Minster of the country.”
He continued by elaborating that “the position of Prime Minister is not a steppingstone for European office. It is the most important job that I have ever imagined and that I could do. My job is to represent Greece in Europe and not Europe in Greece.”
The interview was held by the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT).
