Metron Analysis Poll: ND Comfortably Ahead of Rivals; PASOK Now Second

Results presented on Thursday afternoon during the prime-time newscast of Mega TV

Ruling New Democracy (ND) party appears to have emerged unscathed from the passage of a contentious draft bill this month legalizing same-sex marriage in the country, picking up more than a percentage point in the latest opinion poll results released by the Metron Analysis firm.

The results were presented on Thursday afternoon on the prime-time newscast of Mega TV.

Similarly, both PASOK and main opposition SYRIZA party are shown with increasing percentages of respondents’ preferences, 1.2 percentage points, respectively.

Some 60% of respondents expressed support for the legalization of same-sex marriage, according to Metron Analysis.

The most acute problem faced by society, according to the poll’s results, remains the cost of living, despite dropping seven percentage points less than in last month’s survey by the same firm.

In the all-important voter intent category, center-right ND picks up 28.5%, followed by PASOK with 11.7%. SYRIZA drops to third place, with 10.4%. Another three parties are shown above the 3% threshold: the Communist Party (KKE) with 6.8%; the Elliniki Lysi (Hellenic Solution) party with 6.3% and the ultra-conservative Niki party, with 3.8%.

With an extrapolation of the results, ND is shown with 36.5%, comfortably ahead of PASOK’s 14.9% and SYRIZA’s 13.3%.
