The latest opinion poll results released by the Marc firm show an apparent rebound by governing New Democracy (ND) party at the advent of the new year.
Conversely, PASOK party appears as lagging, compared to results of the poll by the same firm last month.
Specifically, center-right ND is shown to pick 31.4% of respondents’ preferences, in an extrapolation of the results, compared to 18% for socialist/social democrat PASOK – a 13.4%-point lead.
The results were presented on Monday’s primetime newscast of Athens-based Ant1 channel.
SYRIZA, which recently lost its official main opposition status in Parliament, comes in third with 8.5%, followed by the Communist Party (KKE) with 8.2%.
No less than six other lesser parties are shown, as based on the extrapolated results, as exceeding the 3% threshold needed in a general election in order to achieve representation in Parliament.
Two of the aforementioned parties, in fact, are newly established and untested in a general election: Stefanos Kasselakis’ liberal-leftish “Movement for Democracy” and the rightwing “Voice of Reason” party, established by current MEP Aphrodite Latinopoulou.
In terms of their personal expectations, 41.5% of respondents said they were optimistic over their prospects in 2025, with 23.5% saying they expected a negative year.
Conversely, 38.4% of respondents said they were pessimistic as far as the country is concerned, as a whole, compared to 27.6% saying they were optimistic.
