Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis met with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, in Brussels on April 3. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the NATO Foreign Ministers’ Summit, with the two officials holding talks on the state of transatlantic relations as well as pressing international and regional developments.
According to diplomatic sources, the meeting also focused on outlining the next steps in the ongoing Greek-Turkish dialogue, as the previously scheduled meeting was postponed following the developments in Turkey, namely the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, which had put the date on hold.
Central to the discussion was the upcoming High-Level Cooperation Council, which is expected to take place after Easter, at a date to be set based on the schedules of both countries’ leaders.
As reported, the ministers also addressed plans to organize a Greek business mission to Istanbul on May 8–9, 2025 — an initiative aimed at fostering economic ties between the two nations.
Finally, it was agreed that the next meeting between Gerapetritis and Fidan will take place during the informal NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting, scheduled for May 14–15.
