Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis chose to spend his Orthodox Easter on the serene shores of Tinos, a Cycladic island in the Aegean Sea, known for its spiritual significance.
This morning, Orthodox Holy Saturday, he attended the Divine Liturgy of the First Resurrection at the Holy Church of Virgin Mary (Evangelistria), highlighting the importance of this sacred occasion.
In a televised address from Tinos ahead of Orthodox Easter, tomorrow, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis conveyed his wishes, highlighting a message of “hope, strength, and optimism.” He underscored his solidarity with “our most vulnerable compatriots,” emphasizing their need for support, and expressed gratitude to “all our uniformed forces” for their dedicated efforts in safeguarding everyone’s safety.
Notably, Mitsotakis, accompanied by his wife Mareva Grabowski and their daughter Sophia, also attended the Service and Procession of the Epitaph at the same Holy Church on Good Friday, demonstrating his commitment to observing the traditions of the faith.
While on his Easter break, Mitsotakis momentarily stepped away from the fervor of the European elections campaign to immerse himself in the solemnity of the season.
Meanwhile, in Athens, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, is set to attend the Resurrection Service at the Metropolitan Cathedral tonight, further highlighting the significance of Easter within Greek society.
