Greek PM Mitsotakis Attends Independence Day Parade in Canada (video)

As part of his official visit to Canada, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the first to visit the country after 40 years, attended the parade of associations of the Greek Community of Greater Montreal for the Greek Independence Day holiday of March 25th, along with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau.

Earlier, the Greek Prime Minister and his Canadian counterpart attended the liturgy for the national holiday of March 25th at the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary.

Following the parade, which included people representing community associations from dozens of regions across Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis made the following statement: “It is truly a great honor and joy to represent our homeland today, here in Montreal, in this truly impressive parade on the occasion of the anniversary of the National Independence Day of March 25th.”

The Greek PM thanked Justin Trudeau for the reception and the organization of the “impressive” parade, adding that Greek diaspora of Canada was thriving in the country. On his part, the Canadian PM said the Greek-Canadians were a “dynamic” community proud of their roots which had enriched Canadian society.
