Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the new reduced road tolls on the Aegean Motorway as of Tuesday, specifically in the Maliakos-Kleidi section, on his personal Facebook account.
Mitsotakis emphasized that this success was made possible because his government opted to prioritize support for the nation’s citizens by utilizing the benefits of the refinancing obtained, rather than allocating the funds directly to the State Budget.
The prime minister welcomed the new month stating: “October begins with another reduction in road transport costs, this time with a toll reduction on the Maliakos-Kleidi section of the Aegean Motorway in Central Greece.”
He further emphasized that this with this reduction, the total cost for passing through the 5 toll stations will be 13.7 euros in 2024, down from the current 16.5 euros. In 2025, the toll will be 14.4 euros instead of the 17.4 euros that drivers would be obliged to pay had the reduction not been made.
“From today, those crossing Central Greece will pay reduced tolls, ranging from 2.8 to 3 euros. I would like to remind you that as of October 6th, the tolls on the Attiki Odos motorway, will also be reduced to 2.5 euros. Our goal is to reduce, as much as we can, the cost of transportation, and we are committed to this policy with consistency,” Mitsotakis concluded.
