Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides received visiting Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis in Nicosia on Tuesday evening for a working meeting, talks also attended by Cypriot FM Constantinos Kombos and Deputy Minister of European Affairs Marilena Raouna.
The meeting was characterized as part of regular contacts between Athens and Nicosia on a variety of European and international issues, but foremostly on the Cyprus issue.
“Cyprus and Greece have common goals and objectives in relation to the need to restart talks on the Cyprus issue,” Christodoulides said prior to the talks.
Asked whether Gerapetritis’ visit to the island republic heralds new developments in bi-communal talks, he merely noted that an exchange of views and specific actions and steps within the context of the UN Secretary General’s standing efforts for a solution to the long-standing issue were discussed.
