Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, speaking during an official visit to Riga, Latvia, on Tuesday said he believes there can be no autonomy in Europe without energy security, a direct allusion to supplies from Russia.
“…It’s really vital that we develop diversification. And the truth is that in the last three years we have developed a lot of new tools. It is important that Europe acts united in order to address challenges concerning energy security. Because there can be no strategically autonomous Europe without energy security. And this is why we are trying to develop diversification, but also green energy throughout Europe,” he said, speaking next to his Latvian counterpart and host Baiba Braže.
The Greek minister also said the EU must “jointly address the Russian aggression in Ukraine” and what he called the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East.
