Greek Cabinet Convenes under PM Mitsotakis for Key Legislative Session

Apart from this morning’s cabinet session, the prime minister’s schedule includes a 4:00 pm meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.

The Greek cabinet is to convene under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximos Mansion on Thursday, October 31 at 11:00 am. The focus of the session will be significant legislative initiatives across key ministries.

The agenda will include the presentation of a bill with a goal to incorporate a directive that aims to establish adequate minimum wages across the European Union, presented by the Labor and Social Security Minister.

The Minister of National Economy and Finance will discuss legislative measures regarding the new tax declaration submission procedures as well as the restructuring of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue.

A bill focusing on healthcare matters for the armed forces and another aiming to streamline the foreign affairs ministry’s organizational and operational functions will be presented by the relevant ministers.

Legislative measures concerning the Higher School of Performing Arts, Schools of Advanced Artistic Education, and Music Educational Institutions will also be discussed at the meeting of the Greek cabinet, while the Development Minister will put forward for discussion a bill regarding public procurement processes, including judicial and pre-judicial appeals, as well as professionalizing the public contracts sector.

Apart from this morning’s cabinet session, the prime minister’s schedule includes a 4 pm meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.

Mitsotakis also is to attend a joint event by the Greek Presidency and the Hellenic Parliament at Zappeion Hall, which focuses on strengthening democracy, titled “Empowering Democracy: 50 Years since Greece’s Reconfirmation of the ECHR and 75 Years since the Council of Europe’s Founding,” at 6:00 pm.

Finally, at 7 pm, the prime minister will participate in the opening of an international conference hosted by the “Konstantinos Karamanlis” Foundation, titled “1974-2024: 50 Years since Greece’s Democratic Transition—Democracy in Our Time.”
