Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, on the sidelines of the NATO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Brussels, as the two sides are gearing up for an upcoming official meeting in Athens in the framework of the 6th High-Level Cooperation Council to further develop Greek-Turkish relations.

The 40-minute working meeting focused on bilateral relations and the good results of recent Positive Agenda and Political Dialogue meetings held in Athens. The Greek side emphasized the importance of such meetings to de-escalate tensions, maintain open lines of communication, and prevent crises from escalating.

According to sources, Greece stressed the need for restraint on issues that could provoke tensions, underscoring the importance of sustaining a constructive and cooperative atmosphere between the two nations.

Earlier, Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis held a one-on-one meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, on the sidelines of the NATO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Brussels.

The discussion reflects Greece’s ongoing engagement in diplomatic dialogue with key international partners amid the broader NATO discussions.

Yesterday, a 3rd round of political dialogue between Greek and Turkish diplomatic delegations took place in Athens in preparation for the 6th High-Level Cooperation Council scheduled to take place in early 2025, as the two countries continue to press ahead to normalize Greek-Turkish relations.
