Greek Minister of Rural Development and Food, Lefteris Avgenakis, who is on an official visit to Beijing, China, until April 25, met on Thursday, with the Deputy Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China, Zhao Zenglian, with the latter, calling the visit a landmark in Greek-Sino collaborations.
During the meeting, both parties expressed a clear willingness to resolve technical issues, improve, and enhance Greek exports of agricultural products to the vast Chinese market.
Challenges in exporting stone fruits, citrus fruits, grapes, strawberries, apples, and mandarins from Greece to China were addressed.
It was also decided that the date for signing cooperation protocols in the fisheries sector will be determined shortly. These protocols will facilitate the export of wild fishery products and their derivatives, including caviar, and expand aquaculture exports, including salmon.
Furthermore, longstanding issues affecting Greek dairy and honey exports to China were thoroughly examined, with expectations of prompt resolution.
The Chinese highlighted potential for increased trade cooperation and proposed heightened exchanges between ministries and institutional representatives, a suggestion welcomed by the Greek Minister.
The meeting concluded with a symbolic gift exchange, in a friendly atmosphere that reflects the long-standing close ties between the two nations.
