Greece Strongly Condemns Iranian Attack on Israel

Government spokesman after national security council (KYSEA) meeting: Greece supports the people of Israel and their right to live with security

Athens on Wednesday underlined its condemnation, in the “strongest possible terms”, of Iran’s missile attack against Israel a day earlier, while referring to a serious escalation that threatens regional stability and security.

A relevant announcement by the government spokesman was issued in the afternoon after a meeting of the country’s Government Council for National Security (KYSEA) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

“Greece supports the people of Israel and their right to live with security, while reiterating a call for an immediate de-escalation,” the announcement stated, while adding that Greek authorities remain vigilant at all levels, are intensifying checks and cooperation in terms of information exchange.

The extraordinary KYSEA meeting was convened after last night’s attack, with the latest Mideast developments discussed, along with the overall security situation in the region and a contingency plan to evacuate Greek citizens from Lebanon.
