Greece has acceded to the Global Coalition for Social Justice (GCSJ), with Labor and Social Affairs Minister Domna Michailidou representing the country at the 112th session of the International Labor Conference in Geneva this week.
With 200 partners, including 48 governments representing EU member-states, Australia and Canada, among others, the group aims to bolster multilateral cooperation and partnerships to advance what it terms as “social justice”, and ensure decent work opportunities for all.
The ultimate goal, according to GCSJ, is to strike a better balance among the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. To achieve this, it intends to play a crucial role in advocating for social justice on the global stage, particularly at the upcoming United Nations Future Conference (2024) and the proposed Global Social Conference in 2025.
From Geneva, Michailidou said “Greece’s accession to the Global Coalition for Social Justice marks a significant step towards furthering social justice for all. The mission of the Global Coalition aligns with Greece’s core values, including our commitment to issues of labor rights, decent work, fair wages, social inclusion, and fostering dialogue with our fellow citizens.”
